Abstract: il capitolo analizza i poteri economici dei censori nella Roma medio-repubblicana e i conflitti politici che ne derivano. Nell’esaminare la documentazione, letteraria ed epigrafica, sui censori attestati a Roma e nelle comunità italiche si attua un confronto fra le diverse realtà politico-istituzionali in cui tale carica è attestata.
This chapter analyzes the economic powers of censors in mid-Republican Rome, and the political conflicts that ensued. It examines the available documentation, literary and epigraphic, about the censors in Rome and in the Italian communities: it establishes a comparison between the different political-institutional contexts in which this office is attested.
